Jon Shear, CEM, is the CEO of ReadyZoneHQ and a nationally recognized emergency management practitioner with more than 30 years of experience helping organizations strengthen preparedness, readiness, and resilience. He has designed, facilitated, and evaluated hundreds of workshops, training events, exercises, and after-action reviews across the United States and internationally, working with nonprofit, private-sector, and government partners. His experience includes planning, capability assessments, and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on turning lessons learned into measurable improvements in readiness and response capability. For example, he served as lead facilitator for FEMA’s National Emergency Management Executive Academy, helping develop emergency management leaders from across the nation.
Known for his practical, partnership-driven approach, Jon helps organizations create realistic experiences that strengthen coordination, clarify roles, and improve operational performance. He is the current President of IAEM-USA Region 9, a Director on the Board of the Emergency Management Professionals of Hawaiʻi, and an active volunteer leader with Team Rubicon.
