Svetlana Smorodinsky, MPH

Svetlana Smorodinsky, MPH is a Disaster Epidemiologist with the Environmental & Occupational Emergency Preparedness Team, California Department of Public Health (CDPH). She provides training and expertise in disaster epidemiology and participates in preparedness, response, and recovery activities related to environmental emergencies. Svetlana has held leadership roles in multiple public health rapid needs assessments. She is the inaugural lead of the Public Health and Medical Caucus at the California Emergency Services Association. Svetlana co-chairs the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists' Disaster Epidemiology subcommittee, represents Health on the Local Emergency Planning Committee (California Region II), and participates in the CA State Hazard Mitigation Plan working groups. She guest lectures at different CA colleges, discussing disaster epidemiology as well as use of Geographic Information Systems in public health and emergency management. Svetlana has completed CalOES Emergency Management Specialist training program and is on a quest to bridge the gap between public health and emergency management.
