Amos Lonokailua-Hewett is a seasoned fire service and emergency management professional with over 31 years of public safety experience. After retiring from the Maui Fire Department in 2019 as a Battalion Chief, he became President of Waihona Emergency & Training Consultants LLC, a Hawaii-based firm providing culturally grounded preparedness and training solutions. In January 2024, Amos was appointed Administrator of the Maui Emergency Management Agency, leading county-wide preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery. Known for his operational expertise and strategic leadership, he held key fire service roles including head of the Training Bureau and Program Director for Fireground Operations and Blue Card Command Programs, and developed Maui's Fire Recruit Academy and Fire Officer Programs. His service has been recognized with the Maui High Foundation Hall of Honor Award (2021), Hometown Hero (2018), and Maui Fire Department Manager of the Year (2010-2011). Amos holds a Master's in Public Administration and a Bachelor's in Fire Administration, and as a Native Hawaiian cultural practitioner and fluent speaker, he integrates cultural values into emergency management.
