Susan Anderson is an emergency management professional specializing in animal disaster preparedness, planning, mitigation and response. She joined the ASPCA's National Field & Disaster Response team in 2021, bringing experience from local emergency response into national disaster operations. In her role, she deploys to natural disasters and large-scale animal cruelty cases and works with state and local partners to strengthen preparedness, response, and recovery systems that integrate animal considerations into emergency management. Susan is actively engaged in national coordination and policy efforts related to animals in disasters. She is a member of the National Animal Rescue and Sheltering Coalition (NARSC), state and national Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD), and the National Alliance of State Animal and Agricultural Emergency Programs (NASAAEP), and contributed to NASAAEP's Animals in Disasters Best Practices.
