Born and raised in Bakersfield, CA and spent most of his time growing up backpacking the Sierra's with a special heart for the high country of Yosemite. Enlisted in Coast Guard in 1995 as a Marine Science Technician and promoted to a Lieutenant prior to retiring after 20 years and 3 days of active duty service specializing oil spill and Hazardous Substance release response, all hazards contingency planning, and incident management as a PSC1, ICT3, OSC3, and ICS training instructor. Joined DOI Office of Emergency Management in 2015 and continue to serve as a Emergency Management Specialist, Contingency Planner, Liaison to FEMA and the National Response Coordination Center, and Incident Responder. Most Interesting Response: 2018 Kilauea Volcano Eruption, Hawaii.Lame claims to fame: Wrote the first 3 versions of the DOI COVID Response plan, Created and managed the DOI COVID All Employees Information Portal; Visionary originator of the DOI Strategic Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (SHIRA) program; Project manager and primary author for the 2014 revision of the Coast Guard Incident Management Handbook.
