Joe Moore serves as the Warning Coordination Meteorologist (WCM) for the NOAA/National Weather Service office in Duluth, MN. As WCM, he engages with federal, tribal, state, and local public safety partners across northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin to improve hazardous weather preparedness and response. Examples of this include coordinating remote and onsite weather support for hundreds of outdoor events, Integrated Warning Team workshops with Emergency Management partners, media workshops, and presentations at local Emergency Management meetings and conferences. Joe has also led staff at WFO Duluth to push the boundaries of Decision Support Services, embedding a meteorologist full-time in a County Emergency Operations Center, expanding direct briefings and communications with county and local public works/highway departments, and coordinating unique weather support and advanced satellite imagery for ice caves where people are walking on a frozen Lake Superior at a National Lakeshore. Beyond weather, Joe has interests in organizational management and behavioral economics. Joe has over 15 years of experience, working at the Duluth office for 12 years with previous experience in Goodland, KS and at NWS Headquarters just outside Washington, DC. Originally from the Philadelphia area, Joe holds a Bachelor's degree in Meteorology from Millersville University.
