Ashley Tye, AEM, is the Director of Lowndes County Emergency Management in Lowndes County, Georgia, where he has served for more than 20 years and became the county’s first full-time Director.
Under his leadership, Lowndes County has developed a comprehensive all-hazards program focused on preparedness, training, response coordination, public outreach, and partnerships across local, regional, state, nonprofit, and private-sector organizations. He has led the county’s Emergency Operations Center through numerous federally declared disasters and major local emergencies, including hurricanes, severe weather, flooding, and public health incidents. Most recently, Hurricanes Idalia, Debby, and Helene required complex multi-agency coordination, sustained operations, and long-term recovery efforts.
Ashley holds Georgia’s Professional Certified Emergency Manager designation through GEMA/HS, the state’s highest level of emergency management certification. He is a graduate of the National Emergency Management Advanced Academy and graduated summa cum laude from American Military University with a bachelor’s degree in Emergency and Disaster Management. He is also a state-certified peer counselor through Georgia’s Office of Public Safety Support, providing confidential support to first responders and emergency professionals experiencing stress, trauma, and burnout.
