Katie Edmondson is the Emergency Preparedness Program Manager for NOAA’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM), where she designs, develops, and leads exercises and preparedness initiatives across the agency. Her emergency management career began at the local level in Springfield, Missouri, where she worked on Continuity of Operations (COOP), Continuity of Government (COG), and Emergency Operations Plans (EOP), and served for many years with the Southwest Missouri Incident Management Team.
Katie joined NOAA in 2013 as a contractor supporting the National Ocean Service (NOS) Disaster Preparedness Program, where she planned and conducted exercises focused on disaster preparedness and oil spill response. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Professional Writing and a Master of Science in Emergency Management. Katie is a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) through the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), holds the Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) certification through FEMA, and maintains additional professional credentials through the Alabama Association of Emergency Managers.
