Monty Dozier has over 40 years experience as an Extenison professional with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service (AgriLilfe Extension). During his time with AgriLife Extension, he has served in both county and state-based positions in agriculture and natural resources. Currently, Monty serves as a professor and program director for the AgriLife Extension Service Disaster and Assessment Recovery (DAR) Unit. In this capacity, Monty leads all agency disaster cycle efforts. Under his leadership, AgriLife Extension and the DAR unit have deployed to support response and recovery efforts for Texas-based disasters including Hurricanes Harvey and Beryl, severe weather events, and wildfires including the Smokehouse Creek fire. Additionally, the DAR team has deployed to Florida, California, and North Carolina to support response operations through the EMAC process. Under Monty's leadership AgriLife Extension supports the Texas Division of Emergency Management and the state's emergency management plan as the primary agency for ESF 11 Agriculture and Natural Resources. The DAR unit also has a Mitigation Branch located in Houston leading agency future proofing efforts. Finally, Monty serves as the National chair for the Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN), a nationwide network of Land Grant Institution based Extension professionals serving communities across the US.
