Kyla Galdamez is an experienced professional working across the spectrum of emergency management. Kyla earned a Master of Public Health from The George Washington University and has a passion for community resilience. Her work is rooted in understanding the consequences of disasters and building capacity in vulnerable communities. She is currently the West Coast & Pacific Islands Regional Preparedness Coordinator supporting the NOAA Disaster Preparedness Program (DPP). Regional Preparedness Coordinators are strategically placed to bring additional capacity and technical support to communities to address hazards. In her capacity she works with communities across California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, and US territories in the Pacific (Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands). Kyla focuses on establishing critical lines of communication and collaboration while renewing a sense of trust resulting in a more connected, informed, and prepared network of communities ready to meet growing challenges. She is an advocate for more organized societal planning efforts that are holistic and represent the community needs through deeper understanding and alignment.
