Dr. Tashima Ricks DNP, RN, PHCNS-BC is a healthcare executive with over 25 years of experience leading population health and performance improvement initiatives. She currently serves as a National Programs Advisor for the Prisons Division of the National Institute of Corrections in Washington, DC. In this role, she manages a diverse program portfolio, including the ADA Coordinator’s Network and specialized programming for aging and end-of-life care in custody. Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Ricks has held vital leadership roles, including Director of Nursing, Senior Correctional Nurse Specialist, Clinical Director of Population Health, and Legal Compliance Manager across Maryland's community and correctional agencies. A dedicated educator, she has led Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training and developed Trauma-Informed Care programs for law enforcement and community service groups. Dr. Ricks holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Maryland, a Master’s from Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor’s from North Carolina A&T State University. She is board-certified as a Public Health Clinical Nurse Specialist and holds certifications as a CIT Coordinator and a Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt.
