Erin Greten is a lawyer at Baker Donelson. She advises public and private entities planning for, procuring, documenting, and securing reimbursement for disaster response and recovery. Ms. Greten has also taught a full-semester course, Law of Emergencies: Natural Disasters, Climate Crises, Pandemics, and Beyond, as an adjunct professor at George Washington University Law School. Before joining Baker Donelson, Ms. Greten was the career senior executive Chief Counsel of the FirstNet Authority. She joined FirstNet after serving in three progressively challenging leadership roles in FEMA's Office of Chief Counsel: Assistant Chief Counsel for Regulation & Policy; Deputy Associate Chief Counsel for Recovery (principal legal advisor for FEMA's disaster recovery programs); and Associate Chief Counsel for Regional & Field Operations (overseeing legal services outside DC, nationwide). Before FEMA, Ms. Greten was a regulatory attorney for the US Coast Guard and began her career as a commercial litigation attorney at a firm in Maryland. She began helping disaster survivors by volunteering with the ABA Young Lawyers Division filing FEMA and insurance claims after Hurricane Isabel in 2003.
