Chrystall Kanyuck-Abel is passionate about sharing the British Virgin Islands' story of recovery after back-to-back major hurricanes hit the territory in September of 2017.She is currently the territory's Department of Disaster Management Information & Education Manager. During response periods, she's the lead public information officer. The rest of the time, she guides outreach efforts regarding the best ways to prepare for and respond to all the interesting hazards to which the Caribbean is vulnerable.Chrystall previously worked as a multimedia and newspaper journalist but felt called to the disaster risk management field after becoming mom during the same month the Virgin Islands were devastated by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
