Cookies are an American favorite. Most cookies come from the same basic base, and it is what you add or take away from it that makes it unique.
The FEMA document, 'A Whole Community Approach to Emergency Management: Principles, Themes, and Pathways for Action,' is like that Lego instruction book or that base cookie dough. When it comes to preparedness we have all the pieces and all the ingredients, we just need to find a way to make them work for us.
While we can help with the education of preparedness, unless you are in a position that allows you to work closely with individuals on a frequent and personal basis, we do not have the capacity to make a significant impact on them. Who better to help citizens with preparedness than the people they live with, work with, pray with, and trust.
None of us can meet the ideal alone, but we do have the instructions and recipe for the perfect creation. It is just a matter of finding a way to use the pieces and ingredients to make something that works for your community.
