Dr. Ariel Cohen is the Meteorologist In Charge of the National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard office. Since joining the office in late 2022, he has led the team through a historic cycle of high-impact events including record precipitation, firestorms, landslides, and the first Tropical Storm Warning for Southern California. Dr. Cohen has prioritized the expansion of Impact-Based Decision Support Services, ensuring the National Weather Service serves as a direct operational partner to the City of Los Angeles. He holds a Ph.D. in Meteorology from The University of Oklahoma.
