Joseph Porcelli

Joseph Porcelli serves as Global Public Agency & Disaster Response Lead at Nextdoor. Through its free government platform, Nextdoor for Public Agencies, Nextdoor enables emergency managers to engage and alert its built-in audience of residents to prepare for, respond to, and recover from the shocks and stresses they experience in their neighborhoods.

Previously, Joseph built the Community Engagement consulting practice at GovDelivery (now Granicus) and created and managed FEMA's National Preparedness Community (Community.FEMA.gov), after serving as the nation's first Community Engagement Strategist at DHS. Before his work with DHS, Joseph led Online Operations for the Service Nation campaign and worked in the Neighborhood Watch Unit at the Boston Police Department.

Joseph also serves as a Global Ambassador for Harvard's National Preparedness Leadership Initiative, the Secretary of the Vermont Emergency Management Association, and a Board Member of Atma Connect.
